Trinity Lutheran School exists to assist families of the Waukesha community in fulfilling the God-given responsibility to prepare their children for heaven and a God-pleasing life of service on earth through the Word.

In alignment with this mission, Trinity will enroll students on the following priority basis:

• Members of Trinity Lutheran Church and prospective new members of our church.
• Members of sister churches (Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod or Evangelical Lutheran Synod).
• Other non-members.
• Trinity Lutheran School reserves the right to deny enrollment to non-Choice applicants in accordance with its enrollment practices.

Registration Procedures
Families interested in learning more about Trinity Lutheran School can make an Inquiry and/or Application through our online student information system, FACTS. Links to Inquiry and Application are available on our website at https://school.trinitywaukesha.com Families are welcome to tour our campus by scheduling an appointment. Once the application and required documentation is reviewed, determination will be made regarding enrollment. Families will receive an email regarding enrolling their students using the FACTS Student Information Service (SIS).

Parent Orientation Meetings
Trinity will hold a new parent orientation on July 27th for families that are new to Trinity. On August 11, Trinity will host a school Kick-Off event for all school families to highlight new policies and remind them of important items for the upcoming school year. Parents or guardians are expected to attend the new parent orientation if they are new to Trinity this year. All parents or guardians are expected to attend the school Kick-Off event. If parents or guardians cannot attend, they are expected to communicate with the office to learn general and new information for the upcoming year.

Grade Placement

• Prospective students are generally placed in the grade to which they have been assigned or promoted by a transferring school.
• Trinity Lutheran School reserves the right to assess and adjust any grade placement based on the student's academic, social, and developmental readiness.
• The homeroom teacher and acting Principal invite input from parents when determining the appropriate placement for each student; final placement decisions rest with the acting Principal.
• If a parent disagrees with Trinity's decision regarding their child's grade placement, the parent must submit a written letter of appeal to the School Team within 5 business days of being notified of the decision. Upon receiving the appeal, the School Team will schedule a meeting with the parent and a separate meeting with the acting Principal and homeroom teacher. The School Team will then meet in closed session and will notify the parent of its final decision in writing within 3 business days of that session.

Student Records
Satisfactory scholastic, health, and immunization records required by law in the State of Wisconsin are required from all prospective students. Upon enrollment, Trinity office staff will send a request to the previous school for the student’s records; these records are then placed in the student’s file. Trinity Lutheran School follows the rules and regulations of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) in response to requests for access to a student's records. Procedure for Requesting Records from the school office:

• A Parent (Guardian) may request to inspect and review their child’s records. The school must comply within 45 days of receipt of the request.
• A Parent (Guardian) may request that the records be amended. If the school decides not to amend the records then the Parent (Guardian) will be notified of their right to a hearing on the amendment (see student privacy website for more information).
• The school will not release a student's records to a third party without written consent from the Parent (Guardian) unless the request falls under the exceptions listed on the student privacy website noted above.

Age of Entrance Requirements
The age requirement for entering our school follows guidelines set by the state of Wisconsin.

• 3K enrollment: a child must have reached his/her third birthday by September 1st.
• 4K enrollment: a child must have reached his/her fourth birthday by September 1st.
• 5K enrollment: a child must have reached his/her fifth birthday by September 1st.

 
Expectations for Families not currently affiliated with a WELS congregation

• After the application for enrollment has been received, the acting Principal will visit with the applicant’s family to acquaint them with the mission and operation of our school.
• Parents are expected to meet with one of the pastors one-on-one within the first two months of the school year. 
• Parents will be encouraged to attend an informational series of classes with a pastor. These classes, called Faith Foundations, offers an opportunity for parents to become familiar with the religious teachings that their children are learning in school.
